Abstract

This research was analyzed detail reproduction, consistency, strain in compression, tear strength and compressive
strength from six addition silicones(Blu-Mousse, Parkell, U.S.A., BM; Exabite¥±, GC Corp., Japan, EX;
Futar¨Þ D, Kentten Bach, U.S.A., FU; Perfect, Handae chemical, Korea, PF; Regisil¨Þ Rigid, Densply Caulk,
Germany, RE; Silagum¨Þ, DMG, Germany, SI) and one polyther(Ramitec, 3M/ESPE, Germany, RA) interocclusal recording
materials according to KS P ISO 4823 for elastomeric impression materials and ASTM D624-91. Results
were as follows: For the comparison of detail reproduction, 50 § detail line were reproduced in all materials. In
consistency test, SI was shown the lowest value of 15.7 §® and FU the highest value of 37.4 §® (p<0.05). In strain
in compression test, RA was shown the highest value of 1.70% and FU the lowest value of 0.56% (p<0.05). Tear
strength o f RA had t he h ighest v alue o f 5.14 N /§® a nd t hat of P F the lowest v alue o f 3.16 N /§® ( p<0.05).
Compressive strength of FU had the highest value of 0.81 §ç and that of RE the lowest value of 0.16 §ç (p<0.05).
According to these results, it was considered that the properties of consistency and strain in compression was
necessary to setup a standard for elastomeric interocclusal recording materials. Furthermore, other properties of
interocclusal recording materials should be also considered.
